Air Vice-Marshal Peter John Harding, CB, CVO, CBE, AFC (1 June 1940 – 27 December 2013) was a senior Royal Air Force officer who served as Defence Services Secretary from 1994 to 1998. ==RAF career== Educated at Solihull School, Harding joined the Royal Air Force in 1960.〔''Who's Who 2010'', A & C Black, 2010, ISBN 978-1-408-11414-8〕 He became Officer Commanding the Pilot Buccaneer Squadrons in 1977.〔 He joined the Directing Staff at the RAF Staff College, Bracknell in 1981, became Station Commander at RAF Honington in 1982 and was appointed Director of Nuclear Systems at the Ministry of Defence in 1986.〔 He went on to be Deputy Commander-in-Chief, RAF Germany in 1989 and Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) at Headquarters Allied Air Forces Central Europe in 1991.〔 He served as Defence Services Secretary as well as Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff (Personnel) from 1994 to 1998.〔 In retirement he became Deputy Chairman of the Governors of Taunton School.〔(Taunton School Educational Charity ) Charity Commission〕 He died on 27 December 2013.〔(Air Vice-Marshal Peter Harding - obituary ) The Telegraph〕
